Bishop John Drew Sheard, born January 1, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, is the son of the late Bishop John Henry Sheard and Mother Willie Mae Sheard. Saved at a young age, he later answered the call to ministry. He earned degrees in education and mathematics from Wayne State University and began his pastoral ministry in 1988 at Great Emmanuel Church. In 2009, he and his wife, Lady Karen Clark-Sheard, founded Karew Records.

Elevated to jurisdictional bishop in 2010, Bishop Sheard was later elected Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. His leadership includes eliminating denominational debt, raising $2.5 million through the “I Love My Church” Initiative, and leading national humanitarian efforts.
